    Female Vampire

The vampire story in this blog is entirely fiction and right out of my imagination. There might be similarities to other vampire stories on the facts about vampires. I still made my vamps a little different and the story will prove it. The names of the characters are also ficticious. Some of the places named in the story are real. Feel free to comment, as long as it is not spam. I will happily take suggestions as well... enjoy.

Vampire Facts (The Cold Blooded)

There are tons of stories about vampires.  A lot of the things that those stories tell about vampires are myths, and some are truths.  Here are some truths about Cold Blood Vampires:

Sunlight does not kill vampires, it just makes their head pound like a headache, and it drains their energy the longer they are exposed.  Although new vampires can get most of their energy drained if exposed to direct sunlight, even for a few seconds.  They can recoup by either going in to the shadows or, even faster, by feeding.

A vampire’s diet is mostly blood, which is the most nutritious to them (especially human blood), but they can also eat animal blood and meat … the rarer the better.  They can “fake” eating human food (i.e. vegetables, bread, eggs), but it is of no nutritional value to them.  They usually have an arrangement with local slaughter houses to buy their animal blood, but some vampires prefer the thrill of the hunt.

Vampires don’t need to eat as often as humans. A meal every other day is fine for them, unless they are exposed to sunlight or if they are new vampires.

They reflect in mirrors ok.  The only difference is that mirrors reflect their aura to humans.  That is the reason why they avoid mirrors.

They don’t have fangs per se.  They have slightly elongated canines, which help when tearing out the prey.  Their teeth are also super strong.

Vampires are not afraid of crucifixes. They are very open to religion, so they choose not to pick one in particular.  Holy water does not melt vampires away either.

Because light weakens them, vampires usually, but not necessarily, sleep during the day.  Although they don't sleep in a coffin, but a regular bed.  The older the vampire, the less they need to sleep.  Sleep only serves to preserve energy, not to restore it.

Garlic doesn’t kill or scare away vampires.  The smell just bugs them.  Their sense of smell is a thousand times stronger than humans.

In recent studies, scientists have found that vampires suffer from a kind of “genetic condition” in which, after receiving the venom from an “infected” specimen (a vampire), their genetic configuration changes.  It would take several bites for a human to turn into a vampire by biting, but they can fight the virus by consuming iron capsules.

The body of a vampire has a much slower circulation than a human, but it doesn’t affect how they move or their strength.  The slower circulation causes their body temperature to be a lot colder than a human, that is why they are also known as the cold blooded.  A vampire’s heart beat slows down quite a bit, and it doesn’t pump as strong as a human heart, so their heart beat is almost imperceptible.  Their breathing is also slower.  They don’t need to breathe as often as a human, which helps them if they need to go under water, where they can remain under for a lot longer than a human.  When a vampire sleeps it also looks like they are dead.

Because of the “genetic conditions” of vampires, they can live a lot longer than humans. One vampire year can be 8-15 of a human, so they grow older very slow.  When vampires are in their prime (if they look between 25-40 years old) they can be exposed to sunlight for a lot longer than a younger and older vampires.  Older vampires are usually confined to the dark or the night to keep their strength longer throughout the day (in their case, night).  A vampire is considered old after over 2000 years.

Scientists have also found a way for vampires to have the best nutrition possible with imitation human blood.  This blood was created by using human blood as a catalyst and then duplicating it over and over.  It cannot be pumped into a human, but it provides vampires with perfect nutrition to avoid feeding directly from a human.  Although, some “conservative” vampires prefer to feed “old-school.”  If vampires live within a secured coven, the “blood” is readily available.  If they are within humans (there are only a few very civilized vampires that live among humans), they can get their blood from certain certified suppliers.

Humans can only be turned into vampires by appearing in front of their closest coven’s Council and pleading their case and picking their sire.  Vampires that turn people into vampires can be punished by the vampire law.

Vampires are not yet mainstream.  Their existence is still a “legend” in the eyes of the general population.  Although, the government wants to keep them under wraps for the time being and the safety of humans and vampires as well.

Vampires can have offspring, although it is very rare, since the cycle in women vampires is rare as well and it happens in a different way.  If a woman vampire results pregnant, there is a 25% chance that the offspring comes out human.

Male vampires, though, can impregnate a female human, and their offspring will have a 50% chance to be a vampire. Also, a vampire and human offspring, even though he or she is human, they can carry the “vampire gene” into their own offspring.  So if this carrier mates with another human, there is a chance of them having a vampire offspring.
